Ladan Eshkevari, PhD, CRNA, L.Ac., FAAN
Dr. Eshkevari has been a professor at Georgetown University for over 20 years. She earned her BS in nursing with Honors from the University of MD, her MS in Nurse Anesthesia from Columbia University, NY and earned her doctorate in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. She is an expert in the area of anesthesia, pain management, and alternative medicine, and holds a diplomate degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
Dr. Eshkevari has expertise in central and peripheral mechanisms of pain and stress responses; and her specific area of research involves identifying physiologic markers for chronic stress, and stress induced depression and anxiety that are modulated by acupuncture.
Dr. Eshkevari has been published in numerous journals, including Experimental Biology and Medicine, and Endocrinology. Her research has stimulated international interest in her work, which has been highlighted in numerous popular magazines such as National Geographic, Time Magazine and on NPR Boston. She was recently inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, the highest honor bestowed on nurses both nationally, and internationally.
Dr. Reza Ghorbani, MD, ABIPP, FIPP
We have numerous collaborators at our location at Advanced Pain Medicine Institute (APMI), with a variety of expertise, providing acupuncture, therapeutic massage, cryotherapy, interventional pain management, physical therapy and personal training, to name a few. All under the leadership of Dr. Reza Ghorbani, MD,ABIPP, FIPP a board certified anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, who serves as the medical director of the practice.
Dr. Ghorbani has devoted his entire career to helping patients overcome pain to enable a better quality of life. He graduated with honors from Tufts University and then attended Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a Surgical Internship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center and a residency in Anesthesiology at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Finally, he completed a Fellowship in Pain Management, also at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
A frequent lecturer on Pain Management and often quoted by the media, Dr. Ghorbani is a diplomat of the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP), the National Board of Medical Examiners, and the American Board of Anesthesiology (with subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine). He is also a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP), which certifies practitioners.
Dr. Ghorbani is a member, and has held major committee assignments and offices, at the North American Spine Society, the Neuromodulation Academy Faculty, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the International Spine Intervention Society, the International Spinal Injection Society, the World Institute of Pain, and the National Pain Foundation, among others.
Our state of the art facility is conveniently located at 5454 Wisconsin Ave Suite 1600, in Chevy Chase, Maryland, a block away from the Friendship Heights Metro Station. It is currently equipped with premier exercise equipment, and will soon be adding cryotherapy, an aerial yoga studio and infrared sauna for a one stop facility for wellness and health.
